Helping Black Mountain Reach the Summit

The Approach

Although we are mostly recognised for our work within the automotive sector, we are no stranger to the bicycle industry – having worked with a vast range of cycle clients. In 2016, inventor, engineer and business owner, Andrew Lloyd approached us to consult on an exciting new branding project.

With a passion for cycling amongst the WDA team, we were already brimming with ideas prior to our first consultation and excited to get started on this groundbreaking new project.

Following the initial meeting, WDA were commissioned to create a completely new brand for a revolutionary new cycle concept – a bike which could be used without pedals as a first balance bike, but then ‘grew’ with the child thanks to a patented frame technology. Andrew spotted a gap in the market for a premium quality (‘proper’) bike which could grow with the child.

The WDA creative team got our heads together and created a bold, fresh and striking brand identity that included logotype and icons. We were also tasked with naming and branding their very first range of products – this included launch colour-ways and graphical details.

From the initial meeting in 2016 and a completely blank page, Black Mountain now supply a premium range of bikes, including their innovative Epok (featuring growing frame technology), to 24 countries.

Here’s what CEO of Black Mountain, Andrew Lloyd had to say… “WDA have played a big part in the success of the Black Mountain brand – the end result is a great testament to Lee and the team. We couldn’t have done it without WDA’s great input and brand guidance”.
